4 Common Signs That You Need To Replace Your Furnace

mountain

Most people only think about their furnace when it’s not working. But what if you could tell before your furnace breaks down that it was time for a replacement? Here are four signs that it’s time for a new furnace.

  1. Your Furnace Is More Than 15 Years Old

The average life expectancy of a furnace is about 15 years. If your furnace is older than that, it’s probably time for a replacement.

If you’re not sure how old your furnace is, check the serial number. The first six digits represent when it was made. So, if your serial number starts with 0110, your furnace was made in January 2010.

  1. Your Furnace Is Constantly Breaking Down

Frequent service calls are a sign that it’s time for a replacement. A furnace that’s often broken can be expensive and frustrating. If your furnace has been out of commission more than once or twice in a year, it might be time for a new one.

  1. There Is Uneven Heating in Your Home

If you’re noticing that some parts of your home are always colder than others, it might be a sign that your furnace isn’t working properly. Uneven heating is often caused by dirty air filters or blocked vents. But if the problem persists even after you’ve cleaned or cleared them, it might be time for a new furnace.

  1. Your Energy Bills Are Increasing

If your energy bills have been creeping up over the past few months, it might be a sign that your furnace is no longer efficient. Old furnaces can use a lot of energy to produce heat. If you’re not sure how efficient your furnace is, check the AFUE rating or contact our accredited HVAC technician in Bend, OR, to look at it for you.

Replacing your furnace is a big decision, but if you’re noticing any of these signs, it’s probably time to consider a replacement. We also offer other services, including AC maintenance and tune-ups, air conditioning installation, and heat pump and furnace installation.
